Several weeks ago I posted a brief article about 4G, what it means and why all national wireless carriers are shouting this term from the top of their collective lungs.  But surprisingly, or not surprisingly, most people I ask have no idea what 4G means. My mom is the quintessential example, she commented, “I have no idea what I am watching.” when describing the T-Mobile 4G commercial on TV. In fact, there is market research that confirms that most consumers don’t know what 4G is.

Tech blog Engadget recently wrote a wireless primer which covers what a “G” means, and describes the history of 1 – 4G. It is an excellent article which gives a good overview on the wireless technology behind mobile devices.
